Voted ‘Least Likely to Major in Film’

Overheard in the video store tonight:

Teenage girl: This movie must not be very good. There’s only one copy of it.
Mom: No, some movies just aren’t made to appeal to a large number of people. But they’re still good.
Teenage girl: Or it’s religious.
Mom: Not necessarily. Look over there, a whole wall of The Passion of the Christ.
Teenage girl: Hm. Well, I still don’t want to rent that movie.

My Rockin’ Twentysomething Lifestyle

I don’t normally blog the banalities of my everyday life. So I’m not sure what’s possessing me to do so today. Maybe because I had an unusually productive weekend?

Friday night: Did my taxes — federal and state. Go TurboTax!

Saturday: Took a brisk 12-mile walk on the Monon Trail. Saw a plethora of golden retrievers. And babies. In the evening, I worked on a freelance web project. Saturday night was also the Extreme Laundry Extravaganza. Six loads of laundry, which depleted my $10 roll of quarters in one fell swoop. I didn’t think I even had that many clothes.

Sunday: I slept until 11am this morning, apparently needing to rest up from my wild time the night before. Did some more freelance project stuff. I had wanted to go to a symphony performance at Butler University, but I ended up getting caught in traffic on the way there and being late. So I nixed those plans and decided to walk around Broad Ripple instead.

When I first moved to Indy I thought I’d spend a lot of time in Broad Ripple because it’s funky and fun. But I really haven’t been there too often. And most times I’ve been there have been when people visit. Like last summer with my parents, and last weekend when Meghan and Elizabeth were in town for the day.

(I suppose technically I’m in the Ripple just about every weekend when I take my Monon walks, but I don’t usually stop and poke around because I’m in my smelly exercise wear, so that doesn’t count).

So anyway, I putzed around the Ripple for a while this afternoon. Went into some interesting little stores, had a pastry and chai at the Scholars Inn Bakehouse — the relatively recently opened Indy version of the Bloomington establishment. Even though it was rainy and gross out, it was a very pleasant afternoon.
